Channels
The channel your CRM doesn't have yet.
Your email goes to an inbox. Your texts cost money every time. A wallet pass sits on your customer's phone, updates itself, and costs nothing to send to.
Start your 14-day trialWhy it matters
Why it beats email and SMS.
Nothing wrong with either - keep sending them. They just can't do these six things.
It stays on the phone
Emails get deleted. Texts get scrolled past. A wallet pass sits on your customer's phone until they remove it - so you're still there next week, and next month.
No cost per message, unlike SMS
No carrier fee and no send limits. Tell someone their balance changed or their table is ready without checking a budget first.
Nobody can outbid you
There's one wallet on the phone and your card is in it. No promotions tab, no feed pushing you down, no competitor paying to appear above you.
It's never out of date
Change a balance, a price or a booking time once, and every customer's pass updates in seconds. No reprint, no resend, and nobody walking around with the wrong information.
It's the offer and the barcode
The pass is the member card, the ticket, the coupon. Your customer scans it at the counter - no landing page, no code to type, nothing lost in between.
It works with no signal
The pass is stored on the phone, so the barcode still scans in a basement bar, a stadium concourse or an underground car park - where an email that won't load is no use to anyone.
Side by side
How it compares to what you send now.
No made-up statistics. Just what each one can and can't do, with the caveats written out.
Lands on the lock screen
Does it show up where people actually look?
- Wallet
- A wallet notification, on the lock screen.
- It lands in an inbox, often behind a tab.
- SMS
- Same place, charged per message.
- App push
- If they installed the app and left notifications on.
No per-message fee
What it costs you to send again.
- Wallet
- Unlimited notifications on every plan.
- You pay by contacts or by sends.
- SMS
- Every send is metered by the carrier.
- App push
- Free to send - once you have built the app.
Nothing for the customer to install
How many customers you lose before you start.
- Wallet
- Apple Wallet and Google Wallet come with the phone.
- Already on the phone.
- SMS
- Already on the phone.
- App push
- They have to find it, download it and keep it.
Shows live information
Can it show a balance, a tier or a ticket?
- Wallet
- Balance, tier, seat or barcode, right on the pass.
- Whatever was true when you hit send.
- SMS
- A short message and a link.
- App push
- If you built a screen for it.
Can be corrected after sending
Can you fix it after it has gone out?
- Wallet
- Change it once, everyone sees the new version.
- Sent is sent.
- SMS
- Sent is sent.
- App push
- Only next time they open the app.
Scans at the counter or the door
Can a customer redeem it at your counter?
- Wallet
- QR, PDF417, Aztec, Code 128, or an NFC tap.
- They screenshot it and hope.
- SMS
- A code they have to read out to your staff.
- App push
- If you built scanning into the app.
Surfaces when the customer is nearby
Does it remind them when they are close by?
- Wallet
- Apple Wallet only - the pass rises to the lock screen near a saved location.
- It has no idea where anyone is.
- SMS
- You can only guess at a good time to send.
- App push
- Needs the app, plus a location permission.
Fully your brand
Does it look like you, or like a system message?
- Wallet
- Your colours, your logo, your artwork.
- Your design, inside their email app.
- SMS
- A grey bubble and a shortened link.
- App push
- Completely yours.
Uses the customer data you already have
Can you use the customer data you already keep?
- Wallet
- Connect your CRM and the details fill the pass.
- That is what your CRM is for.
- SMS
- Same list, separate opt-in.
- App push
- The app keeps a separate list of its own.
Results come back to your CRM
Do the results come back into your CRM?
- Wallet
- Who added their pass lands on their record.
- Opens and clicks land on the record.
- SMS
- Replies and opt-outs land on the record.
- App push
- Installs sit in app analytics, not on the record.
What it costs to add
- Wallet
- Connect your CRM. One click, no keys, no new list.
- Already running.
- SMS
- Already running, plus a per-message bill.
- App push
- Build an app, ship it to two stores, and get people to install it.
A general comparison of channels - your results depend on how you use them.
Send once. Stay current.
One change updates everyone.
Send an email and it's fixed the second it leaves. A wallet pass isn't. Update a balance, a tier or a booking time and every customer's pass changes within seconds - with a notification on their lock screen if you want one.
- Lock-screen notifications in your own branding
- No per-message fee, ever - send as often as it's useful
- The same pass scans at your counter or your door
Set up in an afternoon
Your customers are already in there.
Connect your CRM and PocketPass reads the customer details you already keep - names, tiers, balances, member numbers - and puts them straight on the pass. You get a working design before you've typed anything.
- Connect in one click - no API keys, no CSV exports
- Your customer fields fill the pass automatically
- Send it to everyone, or just one list or segment
See who's using it
Your CRM learns who has a pass.
PocketPass writes each customer's install link, and whether they've added their pass, back onto their record in your CRM. So you can email the ones who haven't, reward the ones who have, and use the campaigns you already run.
- The install link lands on every customer record
- Added or removed shows up as a field you can segment on
- Nothing new to learn - it's your CRM, doing what it does
Where it plugs in
Onto the CRM you already run.
One connection, and the contacts already in it become pass holders. Nothing moves, and nothing is exported.
Questions about the channel.
Does this replace my email or SMS?
No. Use Wallet when the message has a life beyond the send - a balance, a membership, a ticket, an offer with a barcode. Email is still how you get people to add the pass in the first place.
Do I have to move off my CRM?
No, and that's the whole idea. PocketPass connects to Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor or Me&u and works from the customer data already in there. Your CRM stays in charge.
What does my customer have to install?
Nothing. Apple Wallet and Google Wallet are already on their phone. They tap a link, the pass is added, and that's it.
What does it cost to send a message?
Nothing. Notifications are unlimited on every plan. You pay by how many passes are actually installed, not by how much you send.
How quickly does an update reach the phone?
Usually within seconds of you changing it.
Do I need a developer?
No. Connecting your CRM, designing the pass and sending notifications are all done from the dashboard. There's a REST API and webhooks if your team wants them.
Add the channel.
14 days free. No card. No app to build. Connect your CRM and the contacts already in it start carrying your brand on their home screen.
